Orang-utans: These magnificent great apes are indigenous to the rainforests of Indonesia and Malaysia, with their current habitat restricted to select regions of Borneo and Sumatra.
Proboscis Monkeys: With a population of approximately 7,000 individuals worldwide, Proboscis Monkeys are exclusively found in Borneo, Brunei, and Indonesia. These unique monkeys have a dietary restriction – they cannot consume bananas without facing fatal consequences. Kinabatangan is an excellent location to observe these distinctive, long-nosed primates.
Pygmy Elephants: The wild population of Pygmy Elephants is estimated to be around 1,500 individuals, and they are exclusively located in Borneo.
Borneo Sun Bears: There may be fewer than 1,000 Borneo Sun Bears remaining in their natural habitat today.
