Yogyakarta Merapi Jeep Tour starts at 7.00am when we pick you up from your hotel in Yogyakarta. From there, it’s about a 2-hour drive towards the foot of Mount Merapi. The ride itself is quite nice — you slowly leave the city behind and start seeing more greenery and mountain views along the way.
By 9am, you’ll reach the Merapi Jeep basecamp and meet your local jeep guide. Then it’s time for the highlight of the morning — the Merapi Jeep ride. You’ll go off-road through volcanic tracks, black lava fields, and areas affected by past eruptions. It’s a bit bumpy, a bit dusty, but that’s exactly what makes it fun and real. One of the stops is the “Museum Mini Sisa Hartaku” (House of Memory), where you’ll see remains from the 2010 eruption. It’s simple but quite powerful when you stand there and imagine what happened.
Around 10.00am, you head back to the basecamp and continue to your next stop — Ullen Sentalu Museum. This place feels very different. Quiet, cool, and surrounded by nature. Inside, you’ll learn about Javanese royal life, culture, and stories from the past. It’s a nice change of pace after the jeep ride.
At 12.30pm, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. Nothing fancy, just good local food to recharge and relax for a bit.
By 1.30pm, we’ll send you back to your hotel. End of the main tour.
If you still feel like exploring, you can add optional visits to Prambanan Temple or Borobudur Temple. Both are iconic in their own way — Prambanan for its stunning Hindu architecture, and Borobudur for its peaceful Buddhist atmosphere.
It’s a simple day, but one that gives you a bit of adventure, culture, and scenery all in one go.

07.00am: Pick up from your hotel in Yogyakarta, transfer to Merapi Jeep Basecamp. (Duration: 2 hours)
09.00am: Arrival at the Merapi Jeep Basecamp, meet the nature guide and we will start doing the Merapi Jeep Tour. This is an exciting ride exploring former eruption sites and the dramatic volcanic landscape of Mount Merapi. We will also visit the “Museum Mini Sisa Hartaku. “ – which is the former eruption site. The museum also known as “The House of Memory”.
10.00am: Back at Merapi Jeep Basecamp, your driver/guide will pick you up visit Ullen Sentalu Museum – Learn the profound wisdom and timeless beauty of classical Javanese culture and arts.
12.30pm: Lunch at local restaurant.
01.30pm: After lunch, we will drop you back to your hotel in Yogyakarta.
03.30pm: Back at hotel. Tour ends.
